Slots News Philly officials discuss likely slot casino sites August 17
Yesterday, the gambling
council for the Mayor of Philadelphia, John Street, released provisional
report containing information regarding would-be slot locales in the
area.
In the 372 page report, it states the city would probably earn the most revenue by building a slot casino along the Delaware River near South Columbus Boulevard and one other slot casino around the Schuylkill Expressway and US Route 1. Two months ago, a state Supreme Court ruling gave Philadelphia the authority to standardize the location of the 2 casinos after a state law gave permission to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. Due to state gaming laws, Philadelphia will earn four percent of revenue generated by the proposed casinos. Revenue estimates state that the city stands to earn as much as $34 million from the proposed casino locations. As many as 9,500 new jobs will be created from the new casinos.
